For over 75 years, Mars has been filling its M&Ms with delicious and sometimes crazy combinations, from coconut to pretzel and even chilli. The brands latest flavour has proven to be so popular that Mars has decided to send it across the ditch to New Zealand. Much to everyone’s delight. M&Ms Caramel contains a creamy caramel centre covered in milk chocolate and topped off with the brands signature hard covered shell.
How have we gone so long without a caramel M&M, you may ask. Well, it turns out making a caramel M&M isn’t as easy as it seems, as vice president of parent company Mars Chocolate, told CNN. “It was a big technological challenge for us,” said Hank Izzo, vice president of research and development. “We never before had a M&M lentil with a true soft centre, so we had to figure out how to not make the chocolate too sticky or too soft that it could collapse.” Whatever the outcome we can’t deny, that we can’t wait to try this chewing chocolate covered lentil.
