Colour of the Year

Pantone has announced its 2020 Colour of the Year, and it is somewhat surprising. Last December, Living Coral was chosen to signify 2019. The bright, neon shade represented social media increasingly becoming part of everyone’s everyday lives.

The Pantone Colour of the Year for 2020 is Classic Blue, a timeless, enduring, elegant and pure colour that goes with almost anything.

“We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on,” said executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute, Leatrice Eiseman.

“We need something that provides us with an anchoring foundation. Blue is just that kind of colour. It’s restful, resilient, and it’s not aggressive.”

Classic Blue is described as the colour of twilight. It makes you feel like the moment after you’ve taken your Instagram sunset photos.

“A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, it encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking.”

Blue might be a safe colour, but it definitely isn’t boring.
