REVIEW: CRAZY RICH ASIANS, CRAZY GOOD

Crazy Rich Asians film review

The first modern English-language Hollywood film with nearly entirely an all-Asian cast, the romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians is spectacular.

The story follows New Yorker Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) as she travels with her boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding), to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore. Faced with meeting Nicks family for the first time, she is unprepared to find out some critical details about Nick’s life and identity in Singapore. Filled with jealous socialites, disapproving family and exaggerated comedic fun it becomes apparent that money can’t buy love and it undoubtedly can complicate things.

Giving modern Cinderella movies the shove, get ready for hyped-up drama, a whole lot of laughs, and tear-jerking heartfelt moments that round the film out into a beautifully stunning masterpiece directed by Jon M. Chu.
