The E! People’s Choice Awards is just around the corner, and the event has released new information regarding the show’s content.
Global superstar and hip-hop legend Micki Minaj is set to open the show on Monday, after a year of unprecedented success. Her latest album Queen was released this August after a four-year hiatus and shot straight to a platinum standing, and she will be performing a song from this revered album when she opens the award show this November.
Minaj is sure to bring her signature swagger and style to this year’s ceremony and is nominated for two awards: ‘Female Artist of 2018’ and ‘Album of 2018’.
Along with this announcement, E! revealed that multitalented actor, writer and director Melissa McCarthy will be honoured at this year’s event as the recipient of the prestigious ‘People’s Icon’ award. McCarthy has been previously nominated by multiple Emmy’s, SAG and Academy Awards for her array of work in the film and television industry. She took home the Emmy in 2011 for ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series’ for her role on revered series Mike and Molly.
With two such endearing and influential women taking centre stage at this year’s ceremony, the E! People’s Choice Awards is shaping up to be a momentous event.
