Get ready, Love Island NZ is on it’s way!

Are you caught up in the current selection of reality TV shows? Married at First Sight the talk of the office lunchroom? Heartbroken over Heartbreak Island? Here’s another one for the mixer—Love Island is coming to New Zealand.

Later this year, Three is bringing one of the hottest TV shows to Kiwis’ screens. For those that aren’t aware of the Love Island format, the show will feature young and attractive guys and gals competing against each other for both prize money, and love. Expect drama, expect heartbreak, and expect to become fully invested in every character who graces our screens.

Three is yet to confirm when the casting will begin, who is hosting the series, or where it will be filmed, however. In addition to the Kiwi version airing later this year, Three has also bought the rights to the international franchises and plans on airing those in the build-up to New Zealand’s version.

MediaWorks Chief Content Officer Andrew Szusterman said, “Love Island takes the concept of ‘appointment viewing’ to a whole new level, and has been smashing records on air along with creating unprecedented social media hype and audience engagement.” Following the final episode of Love Island AU, it was the most-watched show on TVNZ On Demand, racking up a total of 2.5 million streams. “This show really is redefining the traditional television landscape, the likes of which New Zealand has not seen before.”
