‘I got chills, they’re multiplying..’
Olivia Newton-John’s iconic leather ensemble that she wore in Grease’s end performance has just sold for $630k.
An auction over the weekend in Los Angeles saw the leather jacket and skin-tight pants sell for US $405,700 (NZD $630K) in total. The leather jacket sold for US $243,200 while the pants, which Newton had to be sewn into, sold for US $162,500.
The proceeds for the Sandy outfit will go towards the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Australia which the actress founded in 2015.
Other Grease items that sold for a whopping amount included a Pink Ladies Jacket that went for US 50k and a Grease poster signed by Newton, John Travolta, director Randal Kleiser and producer and songwriter John Farrar, which sold for US 64k.
