Kiwi Business Wins International Design Award

A small New Zealand company is making big waves in international design, by taking home the prestigious Red Dot Design Award.

Hideaway Bins was recognised for their innovate kitchen bin design in their product Concelo. Concelo is a waste bin designed to revolutionise the way we look at kitchen rubbish storage.

The design integrates waste and recycling storage in a way that is both clean and functional, with grime and odours being the elements the company most wanted to tackle with their design. Their Active Lid is hidden from sight inside a cabinet helping to control odours, while the Clip ‘n’ Clean features of the design allow for effortless deconstruction and cleaning.

Hideaway bins were recognised as the superior technology among over 6,300 entries from 59 countries around the world.

The company is run by a father and daughter team based in Silverdale. Allen and Jamie Bertelsen praised their investment into research and development as a key factor of their winning design.
