Lil Nas X makes surprise appearance at old high school

He’s gonna take his horse to his old high school…

American rapper, Lil Nas X, returned to his old high school in Atlanta today before appearing for a personal interview on CBS.

The 20-year-old artist shot to global fame after releasing mega country hit ‘Old Town Road’ with Billy Ray Cyrus earlier this year. The viral smash spent 19 consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, breaking Mariah Carey’s record.

After shooting to fame, Lil Nas X has returned to Lithia Springs high school just a few years after being a student there. Walking down familiar hallways the rapper was mobbed by fans and swarmed with selfies. “It feels good being able to walk through the halls and not get in trouble for it,” said the star.

In a preview of his interview with CBS, Lil Nas X opens up to Gayle King about his journey to coming out as gay. The rapper released his song ‘c7osure’ on the last day of pride month, encouraging his fans to “listen more carefully” as he announced his sexuality.

In his interview, he explains that he prayed his feelings were just a phase. “I knew, especially, like, around my teenage, like, years. You know, I would just, like, you know, pray, pray, and pray.”

Speaking to King he discusses that we still have a long way to go, however announcing his sexuality has hopefully helped others who have been struggling.

Last week, Lil Nas X announced he would be taking a break from music and has cancelled two scheduled live appearances.
