With Mother’s Day on the horizon finding an original and long-lasting gift can be a struggle. Kiwi entrepreneur Phil Walters has the solution to your gift-giving woes, as his unique garden displays have captured the hearts of nature-loving Kiwis across the country.
Inspired by the stunning natural world around him Walters created a series of metal sculptures for the public which was received with enthusiasm. He then turned his creative enterprise into a business, creating smaller pieces for bird loving kiwis to bring into their own back yards.
These statues take the shape of over 50 different birds from New Zealand natives to international favourites including Kookaburras, Fantails and the ever classic Tui. The designs are fashioned out of weathering steel which can last over 10 years in kiwi backyards, providing a decade of sculptural beauty.
Walters is proud to bring his art into kiwi’s homes and is committed to contributing positively to our country as he operates his business.
A huge part of our ethos globally is ‘proudly made local’. We print ‘proudly made here in New Zealand’ on the front of the box. It’s a bit of a backlash against the amount of low-quality foreign produced good that fill up our landfills. I decided that I’d make here in New Zealand from the outset. It’s a code I’ve stuck to as we expand across the world.
Metalbird’s designs are created locally, for their New Zealand branch the products are manufactured on Kiwi soil, while their European customers will source products from Amsterdam. Walter’s Metalbird designs make the perfect Mother’s Day gift and can sit proudly in your family garden for years, creating beautiful sunset silhouettes and adding a playful element to any outside area.
