Inspired by the stunning natural world around him Walters created a series of metal sculptures for the public which was received with enthusiasm. He then turned his creative enterprise into a business, creating smaller pieces for bird loving kiwis to bring into their own back yards.
These statues take the shape of over 50 different birds from New Zealand natives to international favourites including Kookaburras, Fantails and the ever classic Tui. A huge part of our ethos globally is ‘proudly made local’. We print ‘proudly made here in New Zealand’ on the front of the box. It’s a bit of a backlash against the amount of low-quality foreign produced good that fill up our landfills. I decided that I’d make here in New Zealand from the outset. It’s a code I’ve stuck to as we expand across the world.
