Parmesan and its wonderful benefits

Parmesan

Parmigiano-Reggiano, otherwise known as authentic Italian Parmesan, is an easily digestible cheese. Whether grated over pasta dishes, stirred into soups, or eaten on its own, parmesan cheese is renowned for its hard gritty texture and its fruity and nutty taste.

However, it’s not just a tasty cheese, it’s a very healthy one.

A study in the Clinical Cases in Mineral and Bone Metabolism journal showed that along with being an easily digestible cheese, it also has a range of prebiotic and probiotic benefits.

The study showed Parmesan is stacked with calcium and vitamin D, two nutrients which are vital good bone health and fighting osteoporosis. Furthermore, it was found to be full of vitamin A, vitamins B6 and B12, phosphorus, zinc and copper, high in protein and low in fat.

“Parmigiano Reggiano is a cheese recommended in all feeding age groups. Moreover, it’s a very important food for skeleton health: it is an optimal source of many essential nutrients for the acquisition and maintenance of bone health such as proteins, minerals and vitamins.”

Another key win for Parmesan is that because of its cheesemaking process, it is lactose-free. So for those of you who are sensitive to dairy, eating good Parmesan should give you no issues.
