ATTENTION ALL STAR WARS FANS: dates for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge have officially been announced.
The new upcoming Star Wars-themed area will open at Disneyland Park in California on 31st May 2019 and at Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida on 29th August 2019. The new areas are opening earlier than expected due to “high guest interest”.
Disney has called these dates “Phase One” of the opening. The ride Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, which puts fans in the cockpit of Han Solo’s iconic starship, will be ready for opening day. However, “Phase Two,” which includes Rise of the Resistance, won’t be ready until later in 2019. Reservations are also required to visit Disneyland Park in California between May 31 and June 23.
As part of a $2 billion investment by Disney, the parks will feature new shops and restaurants that will offer a range of merchandise, food and beverages that won’t be available in any other location.
