Celebrating ten years of Auckland’s best food and drink, this year’s Taste of Auckland presented by Electrolux will take place over four mouth-watering days and nights on Auckland’s waterfront.
Newcomers to the festival include Greek Parnell favourite Gerome, Culprit and its little sister eatery Lowbrow, Xoong, dessert house Miann, and the new dinner offerings from plant-based specialists Little Bid Organics.
Festival favourites Baduzzi are back with their signature ½ Karitane crayfish, as well as French bistro Paris Butter, Italian eatery Farina, and the Russian-inspired Vodka Room.
Big names are lined up to take the stage in the Electrolux Taste Theatre, which will offer guests the chance to see free live cooking demonstrations from Nic Watt of Masu, Kira Ghidoni from The Grove, Juan Balsani of Baduzzi, Josh Barlow of the Sugar Club, Megan May from Little Bird, wholefood writer Kelly Gibney, former Masterchef finalist Vanessa Baxter, Marco Edwardes of Waiheke’s Alibi Brewers Lounge, and Neil Brazier, ex-Sugar Club.
The Electrolux Chefs’ Secrets room will feature Neil Brazier again, alongside Nobu Lee from Clooney, Gareth Stewart from Euro, Dariush Lolaiy from Cazador, and Man Mohan Singh from 1947 Eatery. These demonstrations are limited to only 16 spots per session, so make sure to arrive early.
Musicians providing atmosphere and entertainment for the four-day event include Tami Neilson, Barnaby Weir & Friends, Hollie Smith – DUO, Sola Rosa Sound System, Hopetoun Brown, Laughton Kora and Omega Levine. The music will be enjoyed al fresco, against the beautiful harbour backdrop.
More than 120 artisan producers will also be there to round out the tastings and offer guests the chance to take home the best of Kiwi fare. Artisan goods available include ribs from Texas BBQ Foods, premium meat cuts from Paddock to Plate Butchery, hot sauce from Fire Dragon Chillies, honey from Rawhiti Manuka Honi, olive oil from Two Dogs, pâté from L’authentique and sweet treats from Petal Cupcakes.
Wine and beer will also be present to pair with gourmet goods. Everything from biodynamic wine specialists Churton Wines through to craft beer producers Lakeman and Laughing Bones will be on offer, alongside the more well-known Good George, Harrington’s, Black Dog, Tuatara and Lagunitas.
Those lucky enough to secure a seat at exclusive dining events on the Thursday or Friday will enjoy choice wines from No. 1 Family Estate and exquisite menus designed by some of the biggest chef names in Auckland.
