THE CARNIVAL FOR CARNIVORES

Meatstock festival will be returning to Auckland this summer for one carnivorous weekend.

The sell-out festival will be taking place on the 24th and 25th of February with famed barbecue guests, Tuffy Stone and Hillbilly Wes set to give barbecue demonstrations and classes to the public.

Tuffy Stone, a judge on the American hit show ‘BBQ Pitmasters’ and a 37-time BBQ championship winner, is a classically trained French Chef who turned to the art of barbecuing in the early 2000’s. “I can’t wait to meet the kiwi BBQ community and share our cook up techniques. I’ve heard New Zealand is a super passionate foodie nation, so I’m looking forward to heading over next year.” states Tuffy Stone.

Australian and Good Food AU winner, Hillbilly Wes will also be joining stone as a special guest at the event this summer. Having spent time in Austin, Texas working at top barbecue establishments, Hillbilly Wes went on to start his own restaurant, Bovine and Swine Barbecue Co, in Sydney. “Last year’s Meastock NZ was rocking! It was great to see the barbecue movement in full swing in Auckland. The whole weekend was jammed packed with brisket, burgers and good local New Zealand bands – some of my favourite things!” enthused Hillbilly Wes.

Over 50 teams will be battling it out for the coveted Meatstock NZ Barbecue Wars crown and $8000 of cash and prizes. The festival will also be holding the NZ’s Best Butcher Competition and Culley’s King of the Que – a competition that showcases traditional barbecuing techniques.

The protein packed festival will also feature some of NZ’s best bands, bourbon, food trucks and craft beers. Tickets are on sale now with a one-day pass costing $35.00 and a weekend pass costing $55.00. All children under 12 get to attend the event for free with every adult ticket purchased.
