THIS WEEKEND: THE WAIKATO HOME AND GARDEN SHOW

waikato home and garden show

From Thursday, the Claudelands Event Centre will showcase the best of Waikato’s home and garden scene.  More than 450 exhibitors will be present over three days (the 4th-7th of October) to share wisdom and the latest in lifestyle.

The Waikato Home & Garden Show is focusing on sustainability this year, with the award-winning e-Haus present to educate and facilitate energy efficient home design. The company builds homes that remove 98 percent of pollutants from the air, and save home owners 90 percent in energy costs.

Recyclables will also be on show, as will the St John Op Shop – sort through pre-loved homewares to find a bargain and support the circular economy.

Technology is also a huge focus, with the Samsung Smart Home feature demonstrating the future of domestic life. Ata Touch will also be there with the best of New Zealand’s contributions to the “smart” lifestyle field.

Alternative homes are big draw this year, with tiny houses and modular homes offering hope for the housing crisis.

Gardens are also on show, with a craft area, floral art, and the Mitre 10 MEGA Garden Lane all providing shade and inspiration for Waikato’s gardeners.

To turn the Home & Garden show into the perfect date night, we recommend going on Friday – the show will be open until 10pm, and feature plenty of exciting food as well as a snapshot of domestic bliss.
