TIME’S 25 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET

Time Magazine has once again released their list of the 25 Most Influential People on the Internet, and you may be surprised with who made the list. The influencers were evaluated on their ability to drive news as well as their global impact on social media.

 

BTS

The Korean pop group that has managed to break the U.S Billboard charts. The group has over 50 million followers across English-language social media platforms, have performed at the American Music Awards and have appeared on U.S talk shows Ellen and the Late Late Show with James Corden.

 

LOGAN & JAKE PAUL

YouTube’s most prominent stars Logan and Jake Paul made the list. Combined the brothers have more than 33 million subscribers on YouTube, 27 million followers on Instagram and 21 million likes on Facebook. It is estimated the pairs combined net worth is around $25 million.

 

 

RIHANNA

This one isn’t surprising. Rihanna made the list for her ability to impact the online world. Earlier this year she criticised a Snapchat add that used her image to advertise domestic abuse, which resulted in Snap Inc. dropping 800 million dollars in value. She also two extremely popular brands, her beauty brand Fenty Beauty and lingerie brand Savage X Fenty.

 

TRUMP

This one doesn’t need any explaining. The controversial US President is known for his uncensored and erratic tweets.

 

PRADA DIET

This one you probably haven’t heard of before. Prada Diet is an Instagram account run by Tony Liu and Lindsey Schuyler. The account has more than half a million followers and is a watchdog page that alerts its followers to supposed copycats in the fashion industry. Among some of the account’s followers are Gigi Hadid, Marc Jacobs and Chrissy Teigen.

 

 

KAYLA ITSINES

Kayla Itsines has created a workout empire and quickly become one of the most popular fitness influencers on the internet. The social media star has over 10 million social media followers and also has an app that has been downloaded more than 30 million times.

 

LIL MIQUELA

Lil Miquela isn’t merely a social media star; she is also an avatar. The computer-animated model is made by a mysterious entity with no one knowing how or why she exists. All we do know is that she has appeared in various fashion magazines alongside actual real-life celebs and that she has been hired by Prada to endorse its latest series of animated gifs on Instagram.

 

THE STUDENTS OF PARKLAND, FLORIDA

The Students of Parkland, Florida have been rallying to try and change America’s lax gun control laws. Harnessing the power of Twitter, the students were able to organise massive rallies throughout the U.S as well as change some laws. They have now taken their immense power and are using it to get people to register to vote.

 

KYLIE JENNER

The youngest of the Kardashian Jenner clan, Kylie Jenner has been slowly building her empire since she was a mere tween. The starlet is the highest paid celebrity on Instagram with sponsored content estimated to set back a company $1 Mill. She currently holds the record for the most liked photo ever on a social media platform and caused Snapchat to lose 1.3 Billion in market value when he posted that she didn’t like the platform. Its estimated that Kylie Jenner will be a billionaire by her 25th Birthday.
