TOP 5 MUST SEE ACTS AT THIS YEARS LANEWAY FESTIVAL

With the St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival set to hit Auckland this weekend, we have compiled a list for the top five acts taking the stage this year.

Mac DeMarco

Headliner McBriare Samuel Lanyon “Mac” DeMarco is a Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. The singer has been busy releasing a album every year for the last six years and doesn’t look to be slowing down. Known for his laid back songs and great sense of humour, DeMarco is set to be more than just your typical music set.

Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals

Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals are a combination of soul and hip hop with hints of jazz, rock and electronica infused into their music. His first debut album Venice was released in 2014, but it wasn’t until Paak released is follow up album Malibu earlier this year that things started to take off. The mix of genres and fact that Paak can rhyme with the best of them means this set will appeal to a wide range of music lovers.

BAYNK

Since releasing his debut tack ‘Sundae’ back in 2015, 23 year old kiwi Jock Nowell-Usticke has become of New Zealand’s top 5 most streamed artists on Spotify. With just under a million monthly listeners BAYNK is sure to be set you can dance the night away to.

Aldous Harding

Aldous Harding is a self-described “gothic folk” singer-songwriter from Lyttelton. With her fierce voice the musician has been playing a string of live performances around the globe gaining her international fame and attention.

Billie Eilish

Full name; Bille Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell is an American singer and songwriter who has been on a steep rise ever since she released her first single on Soundcloud for her teacher. Signed by Interscope Records and releasing one head-turning track after another she is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
