What ever happened to Steve from Blues Clues?

Yes you know the one. Your favourite show as a kid, I know – me too. For 90’s kids this is a deep scar from the transition from Steve to Joe. The original Blues Clues was hosted by none other than Steve (aka Steve Burns) and the gang. Although the show only ran from 1996-2006, Burns quickly became a major celebrity and was named one of People’s most eligible bachelors in 2000. It was definitely one of the most popular Nickelodeon shows ever until one day in 2002… The 29 year old actor at the height of the show’s popularity left the show. blues-clue-gifNickelodeon’s cover up was the character was leaving for college and his little brother ‘Joe’ slowly took over.

The shocking news broke hearts all over the world. The day most childhoods died including my own. It wasn’t long until the rumours spread of his depression and horrifying suicide. The three main rumours of his disappearance were drug overdose, drug addiction or was killed in a car crash. Years later Nickelodeon Jr did a special to prove this wasn’t the case.

“I knew I wasn’t going to be doing children’s television all my life, mostly because I refused to lose my hair on a kid’s TV show,” Burns, now 40, said in an interview on the Nick Jr. special.

“And it was happening … fast,” he added. Have a look at the interview here..
