There has been a lot of crap comedies this year, let’s be honest. So I was really excited that the director of Broad City, Lucia Aniello, was making her first feature debut and SUCCEEDED. Thank you Aniello!! Delivering everything on a five-gal-bachelorette party that could be potentially funny. Scarlett Johansson, the bride-to-be, leads the pack as they let loose for the first time in over a decade. Jillian Bell anoints herself as Johansson’s BFF and co-leads. However, my knight in shinning armor was Ilana Glazer. Kate McKinnon is also great. The film focuses mainly on how the heck are these girls going to get out of this and less on an actual story. A lot of the group’s problems magical disappear with convenient coincidences. The plot flops at one point and you’re left with your own thoughts like “Can I go to the bathroom now?” or “I should’ve got more Malteasers…”. This is probably the only part that holds this film back from being great. If you like crass, half-ass improv, tequila and R-rated humour – then this is the film for you.
