Auckland FC, the football team that has made sporting history, is now spinning on Vinyl following its debut season.
As Auckland Football Club (AFC) wraps up a history-making debut season, founding sponsor ANZ Bank is helping mark the moment with Record Season, a limited-edition vinyl capturing eight unforgettable highlights from the club’s inaugural campaign.
The audio tracks include record-breaking moments such as six wins in their first six games (the best start to a season by a new team in Australian Men’s national league history), 532 minutes before conceding their first goal (longest time in history) and a tribute to the sell-out crowds with the highest fan attendance in New Zealand for a regular A-League Men’s game.
A cross-section of sport, sound, and street culture, Record Season is the first vinyl release celebrating a football club’s debut season in New Zealand.
Record Season is ANZ’s gesture to celebrate the team, fanbase and a season that’s already earned its place in Auckland’s story.
“AFC have given this city a much-needed boost of energy, fostering a sense of pride and community, and we’re really proud to have supported them since day one,” said Antonia Watson, Chief Executive Officer at ANZ.
“This season has been about more than football; it’s been about building something our city can believe in,” said Nick Becker, Chief Executive Officer at AFC.
“From the roar of the crowd to those spine-tingling moments on the pitch, Record Season captures the heartbeat of our debut year. ANZ has been with us every step of the way, and we’re delighted with ANZ’s tribute,” said Becker.
Only 150 hand-numbered records have been pressed by Auckland-based Holiday Records – one of the few vinyl plants in the Southern Hemisphere – and will be gifted to players, superfans and proud Aucklanders across the city. The record won’t be available in stores, adding to its rarity and value as a piece of club history.
The initiative continues ANZ’s commitment to supporting Auckland through AFC in unexpected ways. The banks’ earlier ‘Day One’ jersey drop became an instant collectible, and Record Season follows in that spirit.
In addition to the physical vinyl, Record Season is also available to stream via Spotify and Rova, bringing the soundtrack of AFC’s debut season to a wider audience.
