Cover Yourself In Confidence!

Dove x Royal Family Dance Crew

Cover yourself in confidence, Dove’s new whole body deodorant lets the Royal Family dance crew let their bodies, body!

Not feeling fresh is stopping Kiwi women from living life to the fullest. New research commissioned by Dove New Zealand reveals that more than two in five (40 percent) women regularly hold back from everyday activities because of worries about body odour and sweat.

Everyone wants to feel comfortable in their own skin. But for many Kiwi women, concerns about body odour are quietly chipping away at their confidence.

The survey of 504 women between the ages of 18 and 45 found that, instead of living freely, women often plan their days around whether they’ll be able to shower, change clothes, or manage odour.

One woman explained, “I wanted to go to a restaurant after work, but I was scared I smelled bad.”

Another said she avoids lunchtime exercise or active commutes because “I would always be wondering if I smell to others and just want to shower at the earliest convenience.”

When women worry about not feeling fresh, they lose the confidence to participate in daily activities. Confidence is replaced by caution, and that hesitation means women end up doing less of what they enjoy.

Dove’s research found that this lack of confidence has a real impact on Kiwi women’s activity levels. The majority of women (70 percent) said that if they had a simple way to freshen up without showering, they’d be more likely to walk or cycle to work or study, and 76 percent would be more likely to exercise or be active during the day.

The physical discomfort that comes with sweat only makes things harder, with two-thirds of women (62 percent) experiencing chafing or skin irritation from sweat, with more than half (54 percent) saying it puts a serious damper on their desire to be active.

These are the unspoken realities women navigate every day. Discomfort that makes them think twice about being active, combined with worries about body odour, is holding women back from living their lives with confidence.

Dove’s whole-body confidence solution

To help liberate women from this self-consciousness, Dove has introduced the new Whole Body Deodorant range, designed to address odour across the whole body.

Until recently, there hasn’t been a dedicated solution for odour beyond the underarms, leaving women to layer products and perfumes that were never made for the task.

Dove Whole Body Deodorant, has been designed to protect and care for every part of the body, not just underarms. It provides up to 72 hours of effective odour protection while soothing sweat-related skin issues, giving women the freedom to move confidently wherever life takes them.

Anna Tracey, Personal Care Marketing & Strategy Director at Unilever,  said the research shows the scale of the issue.

“Concerns about body odour are actually stopping women from doing the things they love. We believe every woman deserves to feel confident in her skin and live the life she wants, which is why we developed Whole Body Deodorant. It’s about giving women an all-over solution so they can ditch the worries and get on with their day.”
