Netflix is opening an office in Sydney and hiring local staff for the first time.
The streaming service has been available in Australia since 2015 but has previously conducted its business in the country from overseas.
Last December the company launched its first Australian original, the eight-part series Tidelands. The new office could signal the streaming giant has plans to back more original Australian content.
