Giesen

Giesen’s award-winning Chief Winemaker, Nikolai St George, noted that the inspiration for Giesen 0% was a fitness challenge.

Seeking a non-alcoholic wine alternative, St George found there was nothing with a dry finish that exemplified the crisp, fresh flavours of Marlborough.

So he created Giesen 0% from a full-strength Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, using innovative spinning cone distillation to gently remove the alcohol and aroma. The distinctive aroma is collected and re-added, providing an alcohol-removed option that’s varietally expressive.

Master of Wine, Bob Campbell, labelled the first vintage “a giant leap forward in 0% Sauvignon Blanc”, with wine writers “really impressed with the palate weight” and hailing its “real character and personality”.

And with only 16 calories per 125ml serving, there are other bonuses to removing the alcohol. Fans are citing wellbeing as the top reason for moderating their intake, and with a sell-out debut, this wine is certainly proving popular.
