To celebrate World Animal Day, Kurgo has asked pet parents to focus on pet safety while traveling out and about.
As we gear up for World Animal Day on October 4th, leading pet safety brand Kurgo is encouraging animal owners to focus on a crucial aspect of pet safety: securing our furry companions during car rides.
A recent study highlights the dangers of unrestrained pets in vehicles, revealing they contribute to increased distractions, unsafe driving behaviours, and heightened stress for both pets and drivers. The study showed that unsafe driving behaviours were over 50 percent more likely when dogs were unrestrained vs restrained.
To ensure everyone’s safety, Sarah Ambler from Kurgo says that it is vital that our pets are properly secured and restrained.
Secured means using a crash-tested harness designed to keep your dog safe in the car. The dog has less mobility but is safer in the case of a crash.
Restrained means using a seat belt tether to keep your dog from being completely loose in the car. This means your dog has more freedom to move around but is still contained to the back seat.
This World Animal Day, Kurgo encourages pet owners to commit to prioritising the pet safety to ensure all furry friends are safe and sound.
How to secure that furry four-legged friend of yours:
- First, you’ll hear the click of the buckle on the Kurgo Enhanced Strength Tru-Fit Dog Car Harness ($79 NZD). The second click? That’s your own seatbelt.
- If you think your furry pal might be too small for the Kurgo Enhanced Strength Tru-Fit Dog Car Harness, fear not! The Kurgo Rover Booster Seat ($99 NZD) is a great option for those smaller pups. It elevates your pet for those scenic front window views, bringing them just above the car seat.
- Grabbing a drink from the drive-thru on your journey? Don’t forget to quench your furry friend’s thirst with the Kurgo Splash-Free Bowl ($29.99 NZD). With its high sides and tapered lip, there’s no spillage—so you can relax.
Now you’re all set to hit the road! With a safe, secure, and happy pet, you can enjoy your next drive stress-free, wherever the road may take you.
