Amazon MGM Studios has officially cast Esther McGregor (We Were Liars) as Violet Sorrengail and Emilio Sakraya (Rhinegold) as Xaden Riorson in Prime Video’s upcoming Fourth Wing series.
Fourth Wing follows Violet Sorrengail, a fiercely intelligent and often underestimated 20-year-old. Violet is forced by her mother to enter the brutal world of Basgiath War College, where she joins hundreds of candidates striving to become dragon riders for the kingdom of Navarre.
The ruthless, enigmatic Xaden Riorson, a fellow candidate with a complicated past, becomes her enemy and eventually her love interest as they navigate the war college’s deadly trials together.
The highly anticipated romantasy drama is based on author Rebecca Yarros’ New York Times best-selling novels. She serves as an executive producer alongside Averill (The Haunting of Hill House, Locke & Key), who is the series showrunner.
“I’m so grateful to our producing and casting team for conducting a thorough, worldwide search to find Violet and Xaden,” said Rebecca Yarros.
“It will be incredibly exciting to see these talented actors, Esther and Emilio, bring our beloved characters to life on screen.”
The series will be available exclusively on Prime Video. The complete Empyrean series, including Fourth Wing, is available on Amazon in print, on Kindle and Audible, and through Kindle Unlimited.
