There’s something about the end of summer that makes you want to squeeze in one last little escape. The long evenings are fading, the mornings are starting to feel crisp, and suddenly every long weekend feels like an opportunity to go somewhere, even if it’s just down the road. If you’re someone who hates leaving your dog behind, QT’s Pup Yeah! experience is a genuinely great way to stretch summer into autumn and turn a normal weekend away into a proper mini holiday for both of you.
Pup Yeah! is QT Hotels & Resorts’ luxury pet-friendly stay, and yes, it is exactly as extra as it sounds. Your dog gets their own proper setup, complete with a comfy CUB bed, grooming goodies from New Zealand botanical brand smith&burton, and hand-baked treats from Australian luxury pet label St Argo. Some QT hotels even offer in-room dining for dogs, which feels ridiculous in the best possible way. It is the kind of thing you book for a special weekend, a long weekend escape, or just because you and your dog both deserve a change of scenery.
Beyond the room, QT has also put together a digital ‘Strut Your Pup’ map that points you to dog-friendly walks, parks, cafés, and local photo spots. It takes the thinking out of planning and lets you actually enjoy exploring a new place with your dog, instead of stressing about where they are and where they are not allowed to go.
If you are thinking about booking? Here are a few FAQs people have before travelling with their dog.
Can any dog stay at QT?
Dogs of all sizes are welcome, but QT asks that dogs over 25kg be approved in advance of arrival. This is just to make sure the hotel can accommodate them comfortably. All dogs must be house-trained and well-behaved, and there is a maximum of two dogs per room.
Where can my dog go in the hotel?
Dogs need to be on a leash or in a carrier in public areas and can move through shared spaces as a thoroughfare, but they are not allowed in food and beverage areas, the gym, pool or spa. Think of it as your dog being a guest too, with a few house rules to keep everyone happy.
Can I leave my dog alone in the room?
QT asks that dogs are not left unattended in guest rooms. The idea is that Pup Yeah! is about travelling with your dog, not just bringing them along to sit in the room while you head out for hours.
Where does my dog sleep?
Your dog will have their own bed provided, or you can bring your own from home. Dogs are not permitted to sleep on the guest bed, even if they do at home.
What’s included in a Pup Yeah! stay?
Each stay includes a CUB dog bed, smith&burton Soothing Cologne and Waterless Foam Shampoo, a bag of St Argo treats, and access to the Strut Your Pup digital map. Additional pet room service is available at an extra cost at select hotels.
What if my dog causes damage?
As with most pet-friendly stays, owners are responsible for any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of their dog’s stay.
As the seasons shift and the cooler months creep in, Pup Yeah! feels like the perfect excuse to plan one last warm-weather escape or get ahead of those autumn-long weekends. It is low effort, genuinely thoughtful, and makes travelling with your dog feel less like a logistical headache and more like part of the fun.
If your dog is basically your plus one in life, this is one of those experiences that just makes sense.
