Dan Da Da is the latest and greatest anime to hit Crunchyroll, and it’s at the top of our Must Watch list. The story revolves around Momo, a high school girl who comes from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, who’s a total alien enthusiast. Right off the bat, they’re at odds: Momo believes in ghosts but thinks aliens are a myth, while Okarun is all about the extraterrestrial but totally dismisses anything paranormal. Their banter is hilarious, and it sets the stage for some really fun interactions.
What I love about the series is how it takes that classic opposites attract trope and runs with it. The pace is fast and keeps you engaged. When both ghosts and aliens turn out to be real, things take a rapid turn for the duo. Momo and Okarun lives turn upside down in a matter of seconds. The adventures they go on together are full of twists and turns, and it’s exciting to see how they navigate their new realities.
Visually, the anime is stunning. The animation studio, Science SARU, really nails it with vibrant colors and dynamic character designs. The action scenes are particularly well done, making everything feel so alive. And let’s talk about the music! The opening theme by Creepy Nuts is super catchy, and the ending song by ZUTOMAYO really ties everything together nicely.
Beyond the visuals and humor, the character development is solid. Momo and Okarun both grow as they face their fears and challenges, which adds depth to the story. Their chemistry evolves from constant bickering to genuine teamwork, and you can’t help but root for them as they tackle the paranormal forces threatening their world.
While only the first three episodes are out now on Crunchyroll, we are beyond excited to see what happens for the rest of the series. Dan Da Dan is a fantastic mix of supernatural elements, comedy, and character-driven storytelling. If you’re into shows that keep you on your toes and make you laugh, this one’s definitely worth your time. Grab some snacks, settle in, and enjoy the ride!
