REVIEW | Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

Now THAT was a bubblegum movie! I would watch Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire again and again with my brother and dad. Mainly to recreate the wrestling and fight scenes. If you are looking for a high adrenaline, predictable spectacle – then New Empire is the movie for you.

There are so many moment that made me want to just shout GET ‘EM! (And other words of wisdom…)

Rebecca Hall did a fantastic job reprising her role as Dr Ilene Andrews and playing the concerned mother to Kaylee Hottle playing Jia, the last of the Iwi tribe from Skull Island.

Though minimal, Hottle plays a very impactful role and she does it well.

A stand out character for me Trapper played by Dan Stevens. First off, what a hottie! Second, his role with an Ace Ventura look with the wild circle of life vibe to match that makes you fall in love with him.

Brian Tyree Henry reprises his role as Bernie Hayes, podcast extraordinaire. Giving the latest in Kaiju news and helping save the world… AGAIN! The thankless genius that gives the reactions that I think a lot of the audience would share in.

King Kong’s personality shines in this film and you get to see a new side to him. A side of longing for companionship of his kind. Does he get it? You’ll have to watch and find out!
