On the 31st of May, Viaduct Harbour launched its brand new permanent lighting installation aptly named Bright Nights. It was designed by Angus Muir and aims to be a “visual lighting feast for the city”. The artistic lighting installation is the first of its kind in New Zealand and will project artistic light sequences onto three lengths of the Viaduct Harbour seawall.
Viaduct Harbour is also hosting a public festival over Queens Birthday weekend to celebrate the new, amped-up Viaduct. On Friday the 2nd to Sunday the 4th of June, from 6pm onwards there will be entertainment, special food and beverage offerings, and temporary light decorations allover the Viaduct area. Chief Executive Angela Bull says that, “Bright Nights will enhance Viaduct Harbour’s iconic status as one of Auckland’s most desirable locations, where the waterfront meets the best of hospitality and light art.”
