Nonetheless, I am so excited to be blessed with some Taylor Swift tunes to my ears later TODAY. Yes, you heard that right, out of nowhere, our queen has announced that she will be releasing a brand new album called, Folklore, with 16 songs (or 16 + a bonus track if you get the deluxe edition) in which she “poured all of my whims, dreams, fears and musings into”.
I absolutely love it when artists release surprise albums or “go against” traditional release etiquette. Re: Ariana Grande, releasing too many albums and singles all in one go.
“Before this year, I probably would’ve overwrought when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time, but the times we’re living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed. My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out to the world,” added Swift in her announcement post on Instagram.
Taylor Swift wrote and recorded the entire album in isolation. Her music video for “Cardigan” will be released tonight along with her album – she notes that she wrote and directed the shoot and the entire shoot was overseen by a medical inspector. Everyone wore masks, kept their distance, and Swift even did her own hair and makeup. Now that’s some dedication (and safety precautions) we can get behind.
