Leaving many by the wayside, sound film is conquering the big screen in 1930s Berlin. Inspector Gereon Rath has arrived to investigate the gruesome on-set death of actress Betty Winter, but it isn’t an easy task. On his way to solving the mystery, he encounters the dark side of fame and an industry in turmoil. Things get increasingly complicated, and Gereon finds himself roaming Berlin’s Chinese quarter and the city’s underworld as his work leads him closer to the edge of legality.
