Moby has issued an apology to Natalie Portman via Instagram after being accused of misrepresenting their relationship in his memoir, Then It Fell Apart. In the book, the musician described how the two had met at one of his concerts, claiming she had flirted with him, but subsequently moved on. Some time later, Moby wrote, the two had briefly dated. In a Harper’s Bazaar interview, Portman said, “I was surprised to hear that he characterised the very short time that I knew him as dating because my recollection is a much older man being creepy with me when I just had graduated high school.” She also claimed she was just 18, rather than 20 as Moby had written. In his apology, Moby acknowledged that he should have notified Natalie of her inclusion in the book prior to publishing it, and that “given the dynamic of our almost 14 year age difference I absolutely should’ve acted more responsibly and respectfully when Natalie and I first met almost 20 years ago.”
