It’s undeniable: Kiwis love getting on the sauce.
Last year alone, New Zealanders added an extra 72 tonnes of post-bake sauce to their favourite Domino’s pizzas. That’s enough to marinate the entire All Blacks squad more than 20 times and still have enough to drown the Wallabies’ hopes and dreams.
Domino’s thought of introducing a one-off Saucy Sunday back in March – a free post-bake sauce on any pizza – would help alleviate those sweet, spicy and creamy cravings, but no. This seems to have only stirred New Zealand’s sauce obsession even further.
Domino’s has officially launched its Loaded Saucy Pizza range, featuring five new pizzas loaded with saucy goodness, as well as the introduction of two epic new sauces: Mango Habanero and Atomic.
Allan Collins, Domino’s ANZ Chief Marketing Officer, understands that a true Kiwi loves their sauce, and this range was developed in response to the tonnes of sauce added to Kiwi pizzas each year.
“The Loaded Saucy Pizza range is a full flavour explosion. We’ve created these pizzas for people who believe the sauce is the star, not just a side act,” said Allan.
“From the sweet heat of Mango Habanero to the firepower of Atomic and the creamy familiarity of Ranch, there is something for every sauce lover to sink their teeth into.”
It might officially be more sauce than a Kiwi can handle, which is why Domino’s is urgently seeking an Official New Zealand Sauce-orer. Someone who doesn’t just sauce, but considers themselves the sauce when it comes to adding that extra drizzle, dollop, or dip of flavour.
Domino’s Head of Product Development and Innovation, Michael Tracey, agreed that the launch of Domino’s sauciest pizzas yet was the perfect time to find who believes sauce isn’t just an extra, but an essential.
“At Domino’s, we know a good pizza starts with an expertly sauced base and ends with the perfect drizzle on top,” said Michael.
“We take our saucing very seriously and are looking for someone who has at least 5 years’ experience in hitting the sauce and knows the perfect pizza to sauce ratio, a well-kept industry secret!”
To apply, candidates are asked to complete a survey, including answering why they should be Domino’s first ever Saucer-orer and what the magic sauce combination they like to wield on their favourite pizza is and why.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to try the entire Loaded Saucy Pizzas range and go behind the scenes at Domino’s Mount Eden in Auckland for a day, where they will craft their very own saucy creation with the help of our finest pizza chefs.
