Episode Thirty-Nine:

The final couple left in the experiment, Heidi and Mike, prepared to take their final vows and conclude one of the most up and down relationships in the whole season.

Before the couple parted ways they watched their wedding video, which bought up a lot of strong feelings for both of them. Watching the tape bought them closer together and they shared a kiss before declaring to one another that whatever happens, they have to take care of each other.

Back in their respective home towns, Mike met with his family to discuss his impending decision. He and his mother thought of all the pros and cons of the relationship. The more he appeared to really think about the situation the more it unravelled, and he eventually admitted to a producer that he believed the relationship just wasn’t going to work. “She just doesn’t want what I have,” he declared. Mike started to get choked up and even shed a tear. “This is why I’m single…at 44.”

On the Sunshine Coast, Heidi met with a close friend to discuss her side of the relationship. She shared that while there had been plenty of ups and downs between them, she truly wants to be with Mike, and may even be ready to start a family.

The final vows began, and Heidi spoke first. Her vows were romantic and even contained a pun or two. “Even though we started out on a yacht, it has never been smooth sailing.” Smooth Heidi, I love it. She chose to stay and nervously awaited her husband’s response.

Mike’s speech was very eloquent but at first, it seemed like he was calling it quits as he shared a lot of the heartache he had been feeling throughout the experiment. But at the last second he swung around and declared that while there were moments where his resolve faltered, he was sure now that he loved her.

This was the first time Mike had ever told somebody he loved them, and the two shared a passionate kiss.

Another happy couple!

Cutest Moment of the Episode:

Mike’s declaration of love. 44 years on and the man is finally in love!

Most Hilarious Moment of the Episode:

Another surprise arrival from a group of ducks. At least their timing wasn’t as awkward as Mark and Ning’s commitment ceremony.
