AUCKLAND’S WONDERGARDEN FESTIVAL CANCELLED

A New Year’s Eve musical festival held in Auckland has been cancelled after three years.

Wondergarden previously ushered in the new year with an evening of music, food, and partying in the CBD’s Silo Park.

But this morning its organisers posted on Instagram that the party has come to a close.

“As wild and wondrous the party we had in 2018 (and 2016 & 2017) [was], the obstacles in making Wondergarden a long term project have proven to be too hard for us to manoeuvre around, across, under or through!”

The team say that they will be focussing on new projects, with “some exciting stuff on the horizon.”

Kia ora friends and fam! Hope the winter is treating you ok. We’re swinging past to let you know that we won’t be going ahead with Wondergarden festival again this year. As wild and wondrous the party we had in 2018 (and 2016 & 2017), the obstacles in making Wondergarden a long term project have proven to be too hard for us to maneuvre around, across, under or through! So, it’s time for our team to take a little lie-down, and then come out swinging into our next projects. There will be some exciting stuff on the horizon, just not in the form of Wondergarden. It was our divine pleasure to work with such wonderful artists, staff, and volunteers, and to host such a swag of awesome, respectful, supportive party-people: you guys! Who made our jobs allllllll worthwhile. Thanks for being part of the journey, and we’ll see you out there on planet earth. Lots of love, Team Wondergarden.
