Downton Abbey star arrives at Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace was the host of a fabulous honouring ceremony last week, and some of our favourite English actors were present.

Jim Carter, who played the lovable butler Mr Carson in the period drama Downton Abbey, was invested as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire. The honour was carried out by Prince Charles and the pair shared an intimate and apparently hilarious exchange.

Carter was joined by his wife, Imelda Staunton, who was appointed as Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2016, after an impressive career of her own. Imelda played perhaps one of the most despised cinematic characters in history, Dolores Umbridge from the Harry Potter series.

Both actors will feature in the upcoming feature-length Downton Abbey film, which is due to release this September. We are thrilled to be celebrating this moment with them with the actors, and cannot wait to see them on the big screen, alongside our favourite Downton Abbey characters!
