Andre Aciman presents readers with a man named Paul, who obsesses over that which he loves to the degree of a young child, without remorse. Paul is captivated by his loves and cannot bring himself to belittle them in the way adulthood forces many to do. Aciman explores the idea of desire and casts an edifying light over the way we ache, want and waver. Desire should not be shameful, and though we are enigmas to ourselves, embracing our desires may allow us to become who we always knew we were.
