Help Kids Stay Warm

As Kiwis brace themselves for the upcoming winter, the 144,000 children living in poverty or hardship might not have what they need to stay warm.

No kid deserves to be cold, which is why the Kindness Collective has asked those with spare clothes to step up and help those in need.

The PJ Project has been brought back with the goal of providing 20,000 warm pyjamas to children across the country.

From 1 May to 31 July, the Kindness Collective asked the public for donations to help provide winter essentials to needy children.

Each 10 dollar donation given to the Kindness Collection will provide a brand-new set of warm pyjamas for those going without.

“This year, there is a greater need than ever,” said Sarah Page, founder and chief executive of the Kindness Collection.

“A harrowing one in eight children is going without the essentials they need this winter, and we know that being cold can have a detrimental impact on the health, school attendance, and overall well-being of our tamariki.”

The Kindness Collective have teamed up with The Warehouse Group, taking the campaign one step further by allowing New Zealanders to drop off pyjamas at any The Warehouse location.

Additionally, The Warehouse Group will hold in-store fundraising across all its stores, including The Warehouse, Noel Leeming and Warehouse Stationery.

“Every Kiwi kid deserves to snuggle up in warm PJs, especially as the months get colder, said Anna Shiplet, chief corporate affairs officer at The Warehouse Group.

“The Kindness Collective are doing amazing work helping whānau in need to stay warm this winter, and we are proud to support them in any way we can.”

In 2023, the Kindness Collective provided over 14,500 pairs of pyjamas to children nationwide. This year, alongside The Warehouse Group, they hope to increase this number.
