INSIDE LOUIS VUITTON’S NEW CAFE AND RESTAURANT

French fashion house Louis Vuitton will be opening its first cafe and restaurant in Osaka, Japan next week.

Opening on February 1, Le Cafe V and Sugalabo V will feature dishes from Yosuke Suga, formerly a student of 32-Michelin star-earner Joel Rubochon.

Le Cafe V will be located on the fourth floor of the store, and will house a cocktail bar and outdoor terrace. In the afternoon, Sugalabo V will offer an alternative to Suga’s critically acclaimed restaurant of the same name in Tokyo, currently ranked 47th best restaurant in the world.

Accessed via a speakeasy door, Louis Vuitton’s dining offerings feature an open kitchen with a design that showcases warm woods and seek gadgets.

Tokujin Yoshioka has designed original charger plates for the table settings, whilst the interiors will feature nautical detailing in a nod to the building’s architecture, which evokes a ship on the water.

The building was designed by Jun Aoki.

Louis Vuitton is not the only brand to have branched out from clothing into hospitality – Tiffany’s Blue Box Cafe opened in 2018, whilst in New York Nordstrom has teamed up with Ethan Stowell for its restaurant Wolff.
