It’s Hot Cross Bun Time

Hot Cross Buns

Popular Auckland-based bakery, Bread & Butter, has released its highly anticipated annual hot cross bun offering.

In its traditional form, hot cross buns signal that Easter is just around the corner. Bread & Butter’s version are made using a 12-hour long fermentation, which has provided a moist texture, rich flavour, and easier-digested bun.

In a typical year, Bread & Butter bake between 25,000 and 30,000 buns throughout the Easter period, as well as its continuous range of pastries, cakes, biscuits, and sandwhiches.

The majority of ingredients in Bread & Butter’s hot cross buns, including flour, sugar, fruit, butter, and salt, are of organic or certified sustainable origin. The bakers have specifically chosen these ingredients for better digestion and the environment.

Isabel Pasch founded Bread & Butter in 2013. Located in Westmoreland Street West, Grey Lynn, the cafe specialises in traditional European and naturally leavened sourdough breads. In addition to its hot cross buns, all breads are made from certified organic or certified sustainable ingredients. The cafe offers an all-day breakfast and lunch menu featuring locally grown seasonal produce and bakery heroes.

Bread & Butter’s ancillary services include out-catering with a number of options to feed a small group or a large crowd, an online store with daily deliveries, wholesale deliveries, regular sourdough baking classes and more. You will find Bread & Butter stalls at the weekly Grey Lynn and Parnell Farmers’ Markets.
