MINI turns 60!

Celebrating its 60th anniversary, British car company MINI will be holding a pop-up exhibition in Auckland this month.

MINI New Zealand has collaborated with MINI fanatic and author of MINI Down Under, Donn Anderson, to showcase MINI’s best moments from Kiwi history.  The two-day showcase will spotlight key archival pieces and moments from MINI’s journey through New Zealand, starting with its arrival to it’s electrified future with the MINI Cooper SE Hatch, due to launch next year.

Exhibition curator and MINI superfan Anderson published his MINI Down Under book in 2009 which traced the iconic car brand’s 50-year journey in New Zealand. He currently owns two MINI’s, a 2006 MINI Cooper R50  and a 2009 MINI Cooper S John Cooper Works.

Anderson described MINI as not just a car but a motoring icon.

“A long-time New Zealand favourite, this infectious little car embodies a special character and personality that captures people’s imaginations. A birthday worth celebrating, no less.”

An array of stunning MINI vehicles will be on display, including a classic 1979 round-nose MINI alongside the newest MINI John Cooper Works. The exhibition, held at Morningside’s Glasshouse, will allow fans to delve into the history of the car and see how far it has come over its 60-year journey.

The event will be open to the public on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 of November.
