Netflix Announces Pride & Prejudice Series By Dolly Alderton

Dolly Alderton to Write Pride and Prejudice

SCREAMINGGGG! My favourite booktuber (@jackbenedwards) announcing a live-action series of my favourite classic novel was certainly not what I expected to happen this year!

Jane Austen’s novels have captivated readers for over two centuries. Still, Pride & Prejudice has been known to be the most widely read and loved, remaining ever-relevant and entertaining in the zeitgeist. The classic has inspired multiple adaptations and defined the romance genre.

Best-selling author Dolly Alderton (highly recommend reading Everything I Know About Love) and director Euros Lyn (Heartstopper – Nick Nelson is the purest character ever uwu) are set to bring Pride & Prejudice to the screen again in a brand-new six-part limited series.

The adaptation is said to be very close to the original text, reuniting existing fans with the timeless novel while also introducing a new generation to Jane Austen.

The six-episode series will feature some of the UK’s most revered actors: Golden Globe winner Emma Corrin and BAFTA winner Jack Lowden will star as the central couple, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, and Academy Award winner Olivia Colman will play Mrs. Bennet.

Alderton, Corrin, and Lyn executive produce the series alongside Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point, with Lisa Osborne also joining as a producer.

The series will start production in the UK this year, and I am beyond excited!
