New Harry Potter Series

Harry Potter

Through Warner Brothers Television, MAX has announced that the iconic Harry Potter series will receive a reboot. The series promises to last the next decade, and claims from the streaming service and author alike that the new series will be a more faithful adaptation of the series.

For those confused as to why the new series is to be made, you are not alone. The last Harry Potter film (The Deathly Hallows: Part Two) was released in 2011, which had adults and children around the world filling up cinemas and lining up on the street to watch.

Recently, Hogwarts Legacy was released, a game unlike any other that has created a resurgence of the magical world’s popularity. Many of those playing the game have been raised on books and movie series.

The Golden Trio, embodied by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, are characters many felt they had grown up with. Fans globally have had mixed reviews about the announcement, as there had been hopes for adaptations set in the past centred around the Marauders (Harry’s father and friends).

Casey Bloys, CEO and Chairman of HBO and Max Content stated that the service was excited to give audiences another chance to explore Hogwarts.

The mixed reviews are also underpinned by the fact that the author and creator of the world, J.K Rowling, has been announced as the series’s executive producer. The writer has been outspoken about many topics, which has meant that the original Golden Trio and fans alike have distanced themselves from the author.

Rowling herself stated that the series provided a chance to go in-depth into the world in a manner only a long-form television series can.

The series’ announcement has circled differing opinions about why it is being made in such close succession to movie adaptations, especially with the controversy of having J.K Rowling executive produce the series.

While it is hard to imagine the trio being anyone other than Daniel, Emma, and Rupert, it will be interesting to see who the replacements will be.
