Based on a true story, Cassandro follows the life of Saúl Armendáriz, a gay amateur wrestler from El Paso.
As he creates the character of Cassandro, Armendáriz rises to fame from the “Liberace of Lucha Libre”, which changes his life and the world of macho wrestling.
Directed by Academy Award winner Roger Ross Williams, the titular role is played by Gael García Bernal. Other members of the cast include Roberta Colindrez, Perla De La Rosa, Joaquín Cosío, and Raúl Castillo, with special appearances from El Hijo del Santo and Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio.
Cassandro is set to release globally on the 22nd of September next month on Prime Video.
