THE ART OF BANKSY EXHIBITION

Looking for something to do this weekend? Why not check out The Art of Banksy exhibition currently on display at the Aotea Centre in Auckland. Originally displayed in  Melbourne, Amsterdam and all over the world, the exhibition made up of 80 original pieces is on show from January 5 to February 6. Banksy, the mysterious graffiti artist and political activist who has yet to reveal himself to the public is considered one of the most influential and intriguing modern artists in history. His dark satirical street art is preformed using a stencil technique and often pops up on buildings and bridges all over the world.

The Art of Banksy exhibition showcases the largest collection of privately owned originals curated by the artists former manager Steve Lazarides. Displaying famous works such as the iconic “Girl and Balloon”, “Flag on Wall” and the controversial “Laugh Now” as well as sculptures and special art installations from around the world, the collection offers New Zealander’s a rare glimpse into the allusive artists mind.
