Your Summer Wines Have Arrived

While the warmer weather is approaching, it’s time to delve into the light, refreshing wines of summer. This is a great excuse to take a well-deserved break and try something new.

Summer is the time for garden parties, picnics and beach days, and there’s nothing like a crisp glass of wine on a sunny afternoon. So, celebrate the summertime season with the perfect wine to match.

Villa Maria Private Bin Rose 2020 – $14.99

With a lovely salmon pink colour this Rosé displays bright floral aromas with flavours of strawberry, red fruits and spice, leading to a generous mouthfeel with a deliciously dry finish.

Villa Maria Cellar Selection Pinot Noir Rose 2020 – $17.99

This Pinot Noir Rosé captures summer in a glass. Aromatics of freshly picked strawberries combine with summer herbs such as basil and thyme. The flavours on the palate are reminiscent of juicy watermelon and red cherries, finishing with a crisp refreshing texture (like crunching on pomegranate seeds). To be enjoyed all year round!

Villa Maria EarthGarden Pinot Gris 2021 – $19.99

From Villa Maria’s Hawkes Bay Soler Vineyard this organic Pinot Gris showcases bright aromatics of jasmine, ripe pear and spiced orange peel. A strikingly rich and concentrated palate unfolds, seamless in texture with a harmonious balance of gentle acidity and traces of natural residual sugar. Both luscious and long, a wine to be enjoyed now or to develop further complexity with 3-4 years bottle age.

Villa Maria Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc 2021 – $14.99

Marlborough is well known for its Sauvignon Blancs and this wine showcases the youthful, fresh and vibrant characteristics produced by the region. Initially, the cool climate Awatere aromas jump out of the glass, such as lemongrass, jalapeño peppers and fresh herbs. In contrast, the Wairau Valley has warmer summer months, influencing vineyards to produce a pungent Sauvignon Blanc with ripe citrus and tropical fruit flavours.

Villa Maria Single Vineyard Braided Gravels Albarino 2020 – $29.99

Handpicked from a small area within the Joseph Soler Vineyard, whole bunches were gently pressed with the finest juice settled prior to being racked to our concrete ‘egg’ vessel for fermentation and 12 months maturation. The final wine displays beautifully pure and expressive characters of peach and lime entwined with subtle mineral complexities, leading to a textural palate and a long finish.
