SAG Awards 2023 Red Carpet Looks

The Screen Actors Guild Awards have attracted the biggest names of the silver screen in Hollywood, with many of our favourite movie stars gracing the red carpet. This year were the 29th annual awards,  held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

This year, some of the most nominated films include “The Banshees of Inisherin” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” which both received five nominations each, and “Ozark” which collected four.

This year, producers opted for a different way of televising the ceremoy, and announced that they would not air it on American networks TNT or TBS. Instead, the awards were live-streamed on Netflix’s YouTube channel online.

But the eyes of all spectators were on the red carpet. Here are the hits and misses from the 2023 Screen Actors Guild awards.

The Hits:

Zendaya

Valentino

The superstar was pretty in pink, as she wore a Valentino gown paraded with pink silk roses. The flawless look was paired with an old-fashioned Hollywood glamour haircut, and a gorgeous diamond necklace that screamed elegance.

Meghann Fahy

Ralph Lauren

Daphne from “The White Lotus” kept with the theme and went for a white evening dress. The subtle sparkle of sequins and the open side gave an edge, but somehow looked elegant at the same time. While the Ralph Lauren dress was enough on its own, the sheer volume of her hair was incredible.

Elizabeth Debecki

Dior

The chartreuse velvet gown looked flawless on the Australian actress, known best to audiences for playing the role of Princess Diana in “The Crown,” who opted for a simple and natural hair and makeup look which complemented the open back and chic style.

Jamie Lee Curtis.

Romona Keveza

Winner on the night, Jamie lee Curtis was nominated for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once. On the red carpet, she shone in a simple red gown by Romona Keveza, complete with a silver statement bracelet and matching silver shoes.

Cara Delevingne

Carolina Herrera

Star of “Only Murders in the Building,” Delevingne wore a Carolina Herrera Jumpsuit, accompanied by a lavish overskirt and rosettes to add a dramatic twist. The supermodel also wore a short-length diamond necklace, which worked very well with her classic make-up and hair.

Jessica Chastain

Zuhair Murad

Chastain was a winner on the night for her performance in “George & Tammy,” and this gorgeous Zuhair Murad gown was a winner on the red carpet for sure. The classic ballgown look in a stunning raspberry rose colour which was beautifully complimented by her elegant hair and makeup. The exterior bow on her side gave an additional touch of glamour.

The Misses

Michelle Yeoh

 Schiaparelli

Michelle Yeoh usually gets the assignment right when it comes to red carpet looks, but this ensemble didn’t quite meet her previous gowns. The black dress was very chic, but the detail on the front looked as though she had straw superglued to her.

Rooney Mara

Alexander McQueen

We don’t even know where to begin with this bizarre look. The overlapping of lace and fringe made for a somewhat interesting look, but on the whole quite underwhelming.

Julia Garner

Gucci

Julia Garner had the right idea, the problem was there were too many ideas. The sea shells and fans on the elbows provided a nautical look but did not match the beaded fishnet shoulder piece. The rest of the dress did look very appealing on the red carpet, however.

Shelia Atim

Christopher John Rogers

Unfortunately, this is the second time in two weeks that Shelia has made on our list, after her tin foil-inspired outfit from the Baftas. The SAG look this week of a maroon skirt, with a top that looked like activewear, with large cuffed sleeves had us scratching our heads again.

Hong Chau

Fendi Haute Couture

This dress is missing something, perhaps the rest of the train? The frayed edges and loose threads were not a good look, but the fact this was two thin pieces of material was even more odd. Overall, her dress was very confusing.

Beatrice Granno

Valentino

This ensemble looks as though it had been thrown on five minutes beforehand. The wet-look hairstyle almost gave the impression that she was channelling her inner Michael Jackson. The deep plunge neckline was a risk, considering a wardrobe malfunction could happen at any moment. The dress itself swamped her figure.
