Australia Launches World’s First LGBTQIA Wedding App

Wedding planning can be one of the most exciting, and stressful, time in any couple’s relationship. For members of the LGBTQIA community, these pressures can be made even more testing when facing prejudices or judgements from those who should be helping them.

But fear no more, because the world’s first  LGBTQIA wedding planning app has finally exited its development phase and is ready to be utilised by couples looking to have the best pre-nuptial experience possible.

The programme was launched by Jill Burgess and her partner Kim who decided to stand up and make a change for their community. “The idea of yess came to me back in December 2017 when I was starting to plan my own wedding after the ‘YES’ vote went through. I drove past the church my parents were married in and thought, ‘Wow, now for the first time in my life, I can get married.’ I then wondered if anyone in the LGBTQIA community wanted to get married in a church and how you would find out which churches would actually do it.”

The pair have taken the worries out of finding a service provider who is accepting of different couples and events by collating a trusted list of businesses. These providers include photographers, celebrants, jewellers, bakers and hotels to provide their users with a well-rounded and memorable experience.

The app is free to download, has over 22 different provider categories and of course can be used by anyone regardless of their gender or sexuality.
