Cheesy Gifts for Cheesy Friends

The countdown to Christmas is on, and countless souls around the country are searching for the perfect gift for the cheese lover in their life. A wheel of brie? Too pedestrian. A jar of Stilton? Too strong. An entire wheel of Parmesan? About three thousand dollars too expensive, and wildly impractical to wrap.

However, all these questions have been answered with the release of The Cheese Map of Europe, from Hog Island Press. The 24” by 36” poster (read: very, very big) is for sale through the Hog Island Press website. The Cheese Map of Europe pays homage to 100 unique flavours and origins while providing cultured escapism through the stories of some of the most important cheeses from the Old World.

“I’d never seen anyone attach such a literal sense of place to many of these specific cheeses and their histories, and I hope The Cheese Map does just that,” said creator Mark Adams. “or this particular project, I chose to include a combination of cheeses that have made the greatest impact on me and my cheese-loving in addition to some others that I just felt had a great story to tell.”

Adams drew some inspiration from the internet, but found that the best way to research the map was to simply eat the cheeses himself.
