Dev Patel’s Directorial Debut In & As Monkey Man

Oscar nominee Dev Patel’s (Lion, Slumdog Millionaire) directorial debut has taken the internet by storm.

Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, Monkey Man is an action thriller about one man’s quest for vengeance against the corrupt leaders who murdered his mother and continue to victimise the poor and powerless systemically.

Starring Patel as Kid, anonymously living in an underground fight club, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash.

After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the city’s elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, he unleashes an explosive campaign to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.

With spectacular fight and chase scenes, Monkey Man is an original screenplay by Patel, Paul Angunawela and John Collee.

The film’s international cast includes Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher and Makarand Deshpande.

Monkey Man releases in cinemas on the 4th of April.
