Doling Out the Disneyland Cult Favourite Soft Serve

It’s a Disneyland cult favourite. It’s dairy, gluten-free, and vegan. It’s pineapple soft serve goodness -and it’s set to make its delicious debut at the 2021 Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Dole Whip, the soft serve that became such a Disneyland icon that it inspired its own merchandise line, will be served for the very first time at the 2021 Royal Easter Show.

“With overseas travel grounded, we’re really excited to give Sydneysiders a taste of Disneyland at the Royal Easter Show this year.  We were all ready to go with our custom made Dole Whip food trucks for last year’s Show when everything was cancelled – so we’ve waited twelve months to be able to share Dole Whip for the first time with Sydney,” said Ted Foster, Dole Whip’s Australian distributor.

For years Dole Whip could only be enjoyed exclusively at Disneyland, but Ted Foster has plans to take the pineapple soft serve across Australia serving from his distinctive food trucks at all the major shows nationally.

The bright pineapple themed Dole Whip food trucks will be based at the Royal Easter Show at the following two locations from the event opening date this Thursday April 1 until the show closes on Monday April 12 – serving Pineapple, Strawberry, Mango and Watermelon flavours.

“It’s exciting to be back doing the big shows again. All our work was wiped out by this time last year, we’ve never known a year like it.  Our livelihood is following the show circuit, so to see the big shows able to run in 2021 is a huge relief.  We are all well versed in operating in a Covid safe way, for us that is the new norm,” added Ted Foster.

First created in the early 1980s by the Dole Food company, which was founded in Hawaii off the back of pineapple plantations, the first-ever Dole Whip flavour was pineapple.

Disney published a recipe for a ‘make at home’ version of the Dole Whip last year at the height of the pandemic, which gave people in lock-down the chance to create something similar to the famous Disneyland Dole Whip.

Ted Foster said that while the make-at-home recipe was good, it doesn’t stack up to the original.

“Disney didn’t give away the whole recipe, our ‘secret herbs and spices’ so to speak weren’t all revealed so those wanting to taste why Dole Whip reached such cult status at Disneyland should head out to the Royal Easter Show and get their hands on one of my authentic, original Dole Whip soft serves.”
